MU Family Medicine attending the 2026 Annual International Street Medicine Symposium!

We are really excited and proud to have begun a street medicine curriculum with our residents and are working to grow it into deeper learning opportunities. Safe to say we are walking away from this conference inspired, empowered, and with new perspective on the ways we can dive deeper into our community. Thank you to Street Medicine Institute for bringing together thoughtful individuals from around the world that we can learn from and grow with! Some truly amazing things happening among our neighboring communities, states and countries.

A Class of 2026 graduate of the School of Medicine, Adam Orf is currently a first-year resident at the MU Health Care Fayette Family Medicine Clinic.

"I know I want to do rural medicine and I know I want to stay in Missouri," Orf said. "I want to contribute to those communities not just as a physician, but as a community member, because rural communities can sometimes get forgotten about."

With POCUS making big waves in the primary care space (soon becoming part of family medicine’s graduate medical education requirements) we started a POCUS curriculum last year to help our residents get plenty of hands on practice to sharpen their skills before graduation. We do regular POCUS didactics sessions where we get dedicated time with ultrasound faculty to get reps in on our different scan types. We also have handheld ultrasounds in all our workspaces to assist with our clinical care & education. These scans get reviewed by faculty after submission!
