We’re excited to welcome Jared Teo to the ELPA EdD community!

Jared is based in the Austin, Texas area and currently works in the tech industry, where he leads internship, early career, and returnship hiring programs. His professional background spans both technology recruiting and education, giving him a unique perspective on the connection between higher education and the workforce.

Through the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, Jared hopes to strengthen his leadership skills and deepen his understanding of educational policy. He plans to apply what he learns by building stronger partnerships with higher education institutions and expanding early career opportunities for students during college and after graduation.

We’re excited to see how Jared bridges education and industry through his work in the program! 🎓

Ka Yee Chiu brings a broad higher education perspective to the ELPA EdD program through her work supporting students across multiple campuses.

Ka Yee serves as the University Librarian at West Coast University, where she oversees library services across six campus locations in California, Texas, and Florida. She also manages course materials and academic support services through the university’s Virtual Academic Resource Center.

Ka Yee was drawn to the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis because of its cohort model and the opportunity to learn alongside professionals from different sectors. Through the program, she hopes to strengthen her leadership skills, continue growing her career in higher education, and lead teams that remain responsive to the needs of the students they serve.

James Saltat is continuing his Mizzou journey while building on years of leadership experience in student affairs.

James currently serves as the Interim Associate Director for Leadership & Service within Mizzou Student Affairs. In this role, he helps guide the Office of Leadership & Service and supports programs including Welcome Week, Mizzou Alternative Breaks, the Mizzou Leadership Conference, and Sustain Mizzou.

After earning his master’s degree at Mizzou, James chose the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis to continue growing as a higher education professional. He hopes to strengthen his leadership and practitioner skills while learning new ways to support student success.

🎓 We’re excited to welcome Stacie Kane to the ELPA EdD community!

Stacie is an Assistant Teaching Professor in Mizzou’s Trulaske College of Business, where she teaches primarily in entrepreneurship. She brings 20 years of experience as a college instructor along with 15 years of entrepreneurial experience.

Through the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, Stacie hopes to strengthen her effectiveness as an instructor, expand her research skills, and continue growing as a lifelong learner. She was also encouraged by colleagues who completed the program and spoke highly of their experience.

Already part of the Mizzou community, Stacie is excited to make her Tiger status official through this next academic chapter! 🐯

We’re excited to welcome Taylor Clark to the ELPA EdD community!

Taylor serves as the Community Development Specialist for Southeast Missouri with the University of Missouri Extension and is also a small business owner. Through both roles, Taylor works closely with communities and brings experience in outreach, development, and local engagement.

Taylor was drawn to the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis because of its strong connection to leadership and policy work. Through the program, Taylor hopes to build the skills, tools, and professional network needed to expand community impact and strengthen work related to policy implementation.

We’re excited to see how Taylor continues to grow as a leader and advocate for communities across Missouri! 🎓🐯

Rhiannon is returning to a place that already feels like home as she begins the next chapter of her journey with Mizzou ELPA!

Rhiannon recently began a new role as Director of Administration–Early Education at Christian Chapel Academy. She previously worked as a virtual teacher with Missouri Digital Academy and brings experience across both teaching and educational leadership.

After earning her master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from Mizzou, Rhiannon knew she wanted to continue building her expertise in educational policy. Through the EdD program, she hopes to deepen that work and make a broader impact, particularly for marginalized student populations.

We’re excited to see how Rhiannon continues to grow her leadership and policy work through ELPA. 🐯

Keri Gilbert is continuing a long-standing Mizzou connection as she begins her EdD journey with ELPA!

Keri currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Financial Aid Analytics and Compliance at Stephens College, where her work focuses on supporting financial aid operations, data, and compliance within higher education.

As someone who works in higher education every day, Keri was drawn to the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis as an opportunity to strengthen her leadership skills and gain new tools to make a broader impact within the field of financial aid.

This will be Keri’s third degree from Mizzou, and we’re excited to see how she builds on her experience throughout the program! 🎓

Heather Akkerman is continuing a Mizzou journey that has already shaped her growth as an educator and leader! 🐯

Heather is a third-grade teacher with Columbia Public Schools and has called Columbia home for the past eight years. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mizzou, and her previous experience with ELPA played an important role in her development as an educator and leader.

Through the EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, Heather hopes to deepen her understanding of how theory and practice connect, continue developing her leadership skills, and apply what she learns to make a meaningful impact throughout her career in education.

We’re excited to see Heather continue building on her Mizzou and ELPA experience in this next chapter! 🎓
