New CAFNR alum Brennan Greenwell, B.S. agribusiness management '26, is ready for the next chapter.

He's pursuing a career path where he can build more interpersonal relationships through working as a warehouse manager at an agricultural retail store back in his hometown in the Missouri Bootheel.

“I can’t wait to see what the next chapter of my life holds for me and my professional career,” he said.

In high school, Brennan worked for Mizzou Fisher Delta REEC in Portageville. His time there helped him to choose Mizzou and MU Agribusiness Management.

“I got to meet a lot of people through there who work for Mizzou, and I wanted to experience life somewhere else,” he said.

His previous job experience also helped him land a job in college as a student research assistant at the Farm for Soy Innovation. It’s a 300-acre research facility run by Missouri Soybeans in partnership with CAFNR.

The most important concept Brennan learned during his time at Mizzou is a simple one.

“Truly listening to people,” he said. “Listening is the biggest way to make an impact on people and show people you really care about them.”

He hopes to make a positive impact on others in the future, just as CAFNR has made a positive impact on him.

“I’ve never met a more helpful group of people than those in CAFNR,” Brennan said. “I feel like all I’ve done is grow and flourish as a part of it.”

Brennan’s advice to younger students is to not let the undergraduate experience pass by without making the most of it.

“Put yourself out there,” he said. “Knowing how much CAFNR offers you, you would be a fool to not take advantage of everything there is.”

He said simply reaching out to others can open the door to key opportunities that shape the CAFNR student experience.

“Don’t be afraid to talk to people and find what you want to do,” he said. “You don’t learn everything in a classroom.”

Congratulations, Brennan! You make us !

New CAFNR alum India Williams’ passion and talent for soil judging have earned her a spot representing the U.S. on the world stage.

India graduated this month with her B.S. in environmental sciences with an emphasis in land and soil. She will travel to Nanjing, China to compete on the U.S. soil judging team at the fifth International Soil Judging Contest June 2-6.

“I love learning new characteristics about soils,” she said. “I’m imagining that the soils in China are going to be pretty different.”

Her individual results at the 2026 National Collegiate Soil Judging Competition opened the door to this one-of-a-kind opportunity. She traveled with Mizzou’s Soil Judging team to North Carolina for the competition in March.

India received second place as an individual, and Mizzou also received second place as a team.

“I’m obviously happy about my individual score, but I’m really happy that I was able to contribute to the group score,” she said.

The individuals who place in the top eight at the national competition are offered the opportunity to compete in the international contest, which happens every four years.

“I’ll be competing against a bunch of different countries,” India said. “The U.S. won the last one, so hopefully we’ll continue that streak.”

Join us in wishing India best of luck as she competes next week!

As Vice Chancellor and Dean Daubert says, "Our land‑grant mission — preparing students, discovering knowledge and extending our solutions to others — has never mattered more."

Accelerate the Drive, CAFNR’s new strategic plan for 2026-2030, builds on our momentum from Drive to Distinction, our 2019-2025 plan. Our three strategic priorities reflect our commitment to fulfilling the historic promise of the land-grant mission: Ensuring Student Success; Advancing Research and Innovation; and Empowering Missourians with Ag and Environment Extension.

As Missouri’s land-grant college for a healthy world, CAFNR is the indispensable partner for innovation, talent development and resilient communities in support of Missouri’s top economic drivers.

Together, we will build a brighter, bolder future for CAFNR and Missouri agriculture, food systems and natural resources.
