Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Zak Kassas, Ph.D. Kassas along with his students Mohammad Neinavaie and Joe Khalife received the prestigious IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems (AESS) M. Barry Carlton Award for their paper titled "Acquisition, Doppler tracking, and positioning with Starlink LEO satellites: first results.”

Congratulations to Burn Jeng Lin, PhD, and Sue Huang Lin Endowed Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Joel Johnson for his prestigious Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRSS) Golden Florin Award, honoring his contributions to research in microwave remote sensing.

Professor Johnson’s distinguished career spans over 35 years, with much of his research focused on microwave remote sensing of geophysical media, both active and passive, as well as the application of numerical techniques in electromagnetics to remote sensing problems.

The Golden Florin Award celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to research in Passive Microwave Remote Sensing throughout their career. The Award includes an exact gold reproduction of the old golden florin, the coin first minted in Italy by the Florentine Republic in 1252, and a certificate.
