Congratulations to our ENRAS Alumni Society!

Once again, ENRAS has achieved Scarlet Status as an alumni society with The Ohio State University Alumni Association. This recognition speaks highly to our continued dedication and strong engagement within the alumni community, and it is a testament to the meaningful impact we continue to make to our students and alumni of the School of Natural of Environment and Natural Resources.

Today, September 1 marks the first autumn 2026 School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) Speaker Series event!

This SENR Speaker Series kicks off with an interdisciplinary research panel discussion with our faculty in 103 Kottman Hall starting at 4:00 p.m. (join early starting at 3:45 p.m. for refreshments and mingling prior to taking your seats).

Faculty panelists include:
Dr. Alia Dietsch, Associate Professor of Parks, Protected Areas, and Natural Resource Management
Dr. Roger Williams, Professor of Forest Management and Wildland Fire Science
Dr. Robyn Wilson, Professor of Risk Analysis and Decision Science
Kai Zhao, Associate Professor of Environmental Modeling and Spatial Analysis

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Steven Lower as newly appointed Director of the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) at The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences! Congratulations Dr. Lower!

Dr. Lower has a joint appointment as professor in SENR and the School of Earth Sciences. He served as the School of Earth Sciences director from 2021 to 2024 and as associate director of graduate studies from 2017 to 2020. Dr. Lower has taught more than 5,300 undergraduate and graduate students during his career at Ohio State. Dr. Lower earned a BS in conservation biology and geology and an MS in environmental chemistry from Kent State University. He also earned a PhD in mineralogy and microbiology from Virginia Tech.

Congratulations to Jo Peacock for receiving one of the 2026 Agroecology Awards. She is part of the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University. Her work will identify traits that make trees (and the ecosystems they support) more resilient to weather extremes.
