Ms. Lauren Petronella is an undergraduate student studying entomology at The Ohio State University. In high school, she obtained a Master Beekeeper Certification through the University of Montana, where she did a capstone project on honey bee immunity to nosema. This summer, she was a participant of the BeeMORE research program at North Carolina State University, where she conducted research with guidance and support from master’s student and apicultural genetic technician Molly Carlson, and Dr. David Tarpy. Her presentation focuses on her BeeMORE research project which investigates the correlation between queen attractiveness and viral load, reproductive, and morphological quality.
