Master Gardener Volunteers throughout the state are planting an oak tree in *all of Ohio's 88 counties* as living reminders of the country's 250th anniversary.

Mighty oaks support more than 500 species of caterpillars, an important food source for songbirds, while their acorns provide food for wildlife. As large canopy trees, they can help reduce temperatures, sequester carbon and lower home cooling costs. Native oaks also support Ohio ecosystems, biodiversity and pollinators.

Join us as we partner with Ohio State Mansfield's Department of Art for this unique hands-on class.

In the morning, Professor Kate Shannon will introduce participants to the historic cyanotype photographic process, teaching them how to create stunning nature-inspired prints. After lunch, Sayeed Mehmood from Ohio State’s School of Environment and Natural Resources will cover photography fundamentals, including exposure, composition and the art of seeing.

The day concludes with an outdoor nature photography session where participants can put their new skills into practice!

Participants should bring their own camera, preferably one with manually adjustable settings.

Shrubby St. Johns wort is a common native shrub throughout the eastern United States. It features vibrant yellow blooms that look like tiny exploding fireworks and provides an excellent food source for pollinators.

For centuries, St. John’s Wort seeds have been used for medicinal purposes.

🍄‍🟫 Join the Ohio Woodland Stewards program for a Growing Culinary Mushrooms Workshop on Aug. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Ohio State Mansfield campus.
