Dr. Dodson & his students took advantage of all this sunshine & got off-campus for a little bit, too!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming college students from The W to Schoolhouse Ice Pops & Lemonade! 🎓🍋

A heartfelt thank-you to Mr. Dodson for continuing to think of us each year. We truly appreciate him creating a fun science atmosphere, meeting his class here, and allowing his students to learn while enjoying refreshing treats with us.

Our kids love seeing that long line form—and they’re always excited to step up to the challenge! But today was about more than serving lemonade and ice pops. It gave our homeschoolers an opportunity to connect with college students, experience learning beyond their usual classroom, and see firsthand that college can be really cool!

Thank you, Mr. Dodson and the students of The W, for supporting our family business and inspiring our young learners. We’re grateful that Schoolhouse can be a place where education, entrepreneurship, community, and a little something sweet all come together. 💛

Dr. Whitwam took his Genetics students on a hot September day to a spiral staircase on campus to illustrate the double helical properties of DNA. Then Dr. Whitwam climbed the staircase and used his butt to illustrate how DNA-binding proteins can scan base pairs (the stairs) to bind to specific sequences within the grooves (the handrails) of DNA.
