For her final story as CLAS intern, Gabrielle DeMarco wrote a film review of "echoes of a wet finger" by Vitória Cribb.
In this film, we observe the main character, Tixa, as something of a human-reptile hybrid existing in her own solitary but technological universe.

Once a week, Michelle Wibbelsman, professor of Latin American Indigenous Cultures, and her group of students can be found in the Timashev Family Music Building at Ohio State, brandishing their traditional instruments while singing songs from Chile, Peru and Bolivia, to name a few.

The Andean Music Ensemble was created in 2014, with the goal of connecting people to new cultures, according to Wibbelsman.

“I think that music kind of provides a bridge or a passage for that,” Wibbelsman said. “That allows us to introduce a variety of students from all different types of backgrounds … whether it’s cultural values, languages, practices, things like that, but through this really unique lens of music and music practice,” Wibbelsman said.

The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) seeks proposals for Curriculum Development Grants from graduate students to create new courses at Ohio State with an emphasis on Latin America, or design curricular modules to be used as a resource for K-12 students or for instructors at the K-12 or community college level.

CLAS will accept modules in a variety of formats, such as a website, a PowerPoint slide video with embedded audio recording, an online video or podcast, online text with illustrations and citations, or a guided module.
