We are excited to introduce Born to Be Blue, a special program for children and grandchildren of Mississippi University for Women alumni. Your connection to The W is part of your story, and we want to make it part of theirs too!

Through Born to Be Blue, enrolled children receive an annual birthday card from The W from ages 1 through 18, along with special milestone gifts along the way. From a welcome certificate and bib during their first year to fun surprises as they grow, each touchpoint is a little reminder that they have a place here waiting for them in the Long Blue Line.

Who can participate?
Children and grandchildren of active MUW alumni. Active alumni have made a gift to the MUW Foundation in the previous fiscal year between July 1 and June 30.

Ready to get started?

Join us tonight [Thursday, Oct. 22] at 7:30 p.m. in Poindexter Hall for the Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium keynote featuring Ralph Eubanks.

Eubanks is writer-in-residence at the University of Mississippi. His distinguished career includes teaching at the University of Virginia, serving as editor-in-chief at the Library of Congress and receiving the Mississippi Governor’s Arts Award for Excellence in Literature, among other accomplishments.

Blending memoir, personal essay, history and journalism, Eubanks explores memories of growing up in the Delta and returning to visit after his family moved away. He examines the places, people and events that have shaped this iconic landscape while confronting poverty and abandonment and honoring the resilience of Delta communities. His work explores the roots of the region’s deepest challenges and the resistance of its people that offers hope.

A reception and book signing with symposium authors will follow the reading.

GO PINK at The W!

The W’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program hosted a GO PINK event featuring a faculty vs. student volleyball tournament and fundraisers in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Beyond the friendly competition and fellowship, the event supported an important cause. Proceeds will help provide mammograms for individuals who may otherwise be unable to afford these essential screenings.

Through health education, advocacy and community service, The W’s nursing faculty and students are raising awareness and helping reduce barriers to preventive care.
