Today, the Columbus (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was blessed to worship together at Nichols Chapel AME Church in Phenix City, Alabama, for our 5th Sunday Worship.

A special thank you to Rev. Wendell Jones and the Nichols Chapel AME Church family for graciously hosting us, and to Brother Frank Thomas, Jr. for extending the invitation.

The Word was powerfully delivered by Brother Reginald Thompson, coming from James 1:19, with the message:

“Keep Control”

If we are going to represent Christ, we must learn to control three things: our ears, our mouths, and our anger.

Brother Thompson challenged us with a simple but important question: Are we listening to God?

We must learn to listen to God instead of the crowd. Listen to our spouses. Listen to our children. Listen to wise counsel.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can say is nothing.

And above all, never let anger make your decisions.

We are grateful for a morning of worship, fellowship, and a timely Word that reminded us that true strength is demonstrated through self-control.

The D9 Dollar Challenge is officially live and we are ready to make an incredible impact together. This Challenge will run from August 1st to August 31st, 2026. Our collective goal is to raise $1,930, and every single dollar will directly support the Buddy Pack Program. The Buddy Pack program is one of Feeding the Valley’s key initiatives providing nutritious, child‑friendly, ready‑to‑eat meals for children and families facing food insecurity. These meals help ensure children have food over the weekend and support busy households in our community.

Every ONE dollar donated provides SIX meals. If we reach our goal, that’s 11,580 meals going right back into the community we serve. I am confident we can exceed this goal for such a meaningful cause.

I encourage each of you, as representatives, to share the challenge on your personal pages and within your networks. Chapters, please also share it on your social media platforms. The flyer is attached to this email and a sample of the donation page is attached as well so you all can help walk your family and friends through the process.

Yesterday was a day of Brotherhood, service, and impact!

After wrapping up our stroll practice, the Brothers of the Columbus (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. proudly volunteered at the Phenix City Elementary School Back-to-School Kickoff, helping prepare students and families for a successful school year.

Service doesn’t stop when the practice ends. We remain committed to uplifting our community and investing in the next generation through meaningful action.

As the new school year begins, we wish every student, teacher, administrator, and family a safe, successful, and rewarding year.

Today, the Columbus (GA) Chapter had the privilege of serving lunch to the amazing students participating in the Summer Program. Investing in our youth goes beyond words—it means showing up, giving back, and supporting the next generation.

Thank you to TEARS, Inc. for allowing us to be a small part of your incredible work in our community. We look forward to continuing to serve and make a positive impact together. We even met a brother from the Troy University chapter, the Theta Phi, who is a summer intern there.

The Columbus (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., in collaboration with the Achievement Foundation of Columbus (GA) Inc., is proud to announce the awarding of scholarships to sixteen (16) deserving graduating seniors. This initiative aims to recognize and support the achievements of these exceptional students as they pursue higher education opportunities.

The total amount awarded for the sixteen (16) scholarship recipients adds up to an impressive sum of $12,500. These scholarships serve as a testament to the commitment and dedication of both organizations to foster academic excellence and empower the youth within our community.

The scholarship selection process was rigorous and competitive, with applicants evaluated based on academic achievement, community involvement, leadership skills, and an essay highlighting their aspirations and future goals. The sixteen (16) recipients have demonstrated exceptional promise in all these areas, and their commitment to their education and community has been truly inspiring.

During a ceremony on July 5, 2026, the recipients were honored and presented with their scholarships. This event not only celebrated the achievements of these exceptional students, but also served as a reminder of the power of collaboration and the impact of investing in the future leaders of our community.

Today, the brothers were honored to assist Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church during their Community Day, lending helping hands and supporting an event dedicated to uplifting our community. Service is not just what we do—it’s who we are.

Thank you to Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church for allowing us to be a part of this meaningful day. Together, we continue to strengthen our community through fellowship, service, and brotherhood.
