Assistant Professor Fernanda Schumacher recently welcomed a team of international research collaborators to Ohio State as part of a project to better understand undergraduate student dropout rates in Brazil and support STEM student success.

The team’s work is supported by a Jacob Palis Award, a joint initiative from the Fulbright Commission in Brazil and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences to promote international research collaboration.

Congratulations to PhD student Sharefa Duhaney, who received the 2026 Belfer-Aptman Scholars Award for Dissertation Research in recognition of her work’s important implications for violence prevention.

Duhaney is researching chronic brain injury among people involved in the criminal justice system.
