The Ohio Dominican University community came together Wednesday, Aug. 19, to celebrate the start of the 2026-27 academic year and officially welcome the Class of 2030 and incoming transfer students during Opening Convocation.

What a great way to kick off a new semester! 💛

Today, we celebrated the time-honored tradition of Convocation, officially welcoming our newest Panthers to the ODU community.

As part of the ceremony, first-year students signed the Book of Enrollment, a practice that has marked the beginning of the ODU journey for 26 years. By adding their signatures, students officially become part of the Ohio Dominican community.

The next time our first-year students will see the Book of Enrollment? At their Commencement, when their ODU journey comes full circle.

Following Convocation, students, faculty and staff gathered for a picnic-style lunch to celebrate the start of the semester together.
