Trust didn't happen overnight. For Le'Niyah, it grew through the simple act of someone showing up week after week.

Through the PALS mentoring program, a partnership between The Ohio State University at Marion, Marion Mentors, Marion Family YMCA and Marion City Schools, Ohio State students provide a consistent source of encouragement, support and friendship.

From something as simple as an hour-long meeting each week, a friendship grew that helped Le'Niyah improve her attendance, stay on top of schoolwork and build confidence in herself.

"It's nice to know I have somebody who actually cares," she said. "Somebody who shows up." 🤗❤️
