Under his great pioneering leadership, BU quickly became provisionally state approved for its nondenominational, Theological, Counseling, and Worship Leadership graduate degree programs. Its doctoral program even became accepted by the South Korean Department of Education, allowing any DMin. graduate rights to teach in any capacity, anywhere in Korea. Then upon his retirement from ministry, Dr Le
e transferred BU in 2002 to elder Young K. Kim, a former businessman, who answered a call from God to sacrificially place all his resources into the advancement of Korean missionary endeavor. Elder Kim relocated BU in Commerce, CA, where it still remains. He took BU to its next level of development, by integrating an emphasis upon missions and personal sacrifice into the studies of every degree program. To this day, our professors and staff are chosen, not only for their academic excellence, but also for their heart for missions. And in addition to their studies, on campus students learn the disciplines of prayer and sacrificial lifestyle, by participating in a missionary training and discipleship program led by Chairman Kim himself. They even get on campus practicum experience and credit by assisting Chairman Kim's other parachurch ministry, LifeWay Mission, an outreach to the poor and in prison , as well as a publisher of missionary materials sent in locations all over the world.
