Go Dr. Carlee! 🦁
We are very excited to welcome Dr. Ben Carlee to our studio class this Tuesday! We are looking forward to learning from you! Ben Carlee 🎶🎶
Flutist Dr. Ben Carlee is an artist and educator expanding what the flute can do—and where it belongs—with a musical voice that moves comfortably from Bach and Mozart to Takemitsu, Koji Kondo, Nobuo Uematsu, and mariachi.
Instructor of Flute and Director of Mariachi Leónes at East Texas A&M University, Dr. Carlee has appeared as a performer and clinician at numerous National Flute Association Conventions and festivals across the country. He regularly commissions and platforms works by Mexican, Chican@, and q***r composers while exploring the intersections of flute, mariachi, and video game music. His projects include commissioning and premiering Dr. Jorge Sosa’s Sones para Flauta y Mariachi, the first flute concerto with mariachi accompaniment, and world premieres of Dr. Thomas Yee’s Rhapsody on Eight Themes from Octopath Traveler and Fantasy for Flute and Game Boy.
His forthcoming debut album, Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá: Flute Music by Mexican and Chican@ Composers will be released on Centaur Records. Dr. Carlee is also founder and Executive Artistic Director of the nationally recognized Madison Gamer Symphony Orchestra.
