Samuel Habib came home to NHTI-Concord's Community College in September, this time as the keynote speaker.

He co-directed "The Ride Ahead," an Emmy Award-winning documentary. At NHTI's fall convocation, he spoke to 350 students about his work as a filmmaker, advocate, and member of the disability community. Amy Bourgault led The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges from 2006 to 2014, working with our board and college presidents to make higher education in NH more affordable & accessible. A Concord native, she believed community colleges could change the direction of students’ lives.

Created by a close friend and former colleague, the Jenness Marden Scholarship supports Granite State students who are veterans or the children/grandchildren of veterans, a focus that was personal to Amy, who lost her father, a U.S. Navy veteran, when she was six.

Amy Bourgault worked hard and played hard. That is how her husband, Tom, puts it. Simply and without hesitation. The way you describe someone whose life needs no embellishment.

Today, Governor Kelly Ayotte proposed a Community College Promise Program that would offer free tuition at NH’s seven community colleges to families with incomes up to $100,000.

The Promise Program, developed with input from CCSNH, would cover tuition after federal and state aid. If approved by the Legislature, the Community College Promise Program would begin in the fall of 2027 for current and new students.

“For many students, cost remains the greatest barrier to pursuing higher education and workforce training. This proposal would help remove that barrier,” said CCSNH Chancellor Dr. Chuck Lloyd.

This fall, Great Bay Community College is launching a new Criminal Justice Leadership certificate designed for working professionals.

It features courses in leadership, research methods, and ethical decision-making. It ends with a capstone project in which students take on a real issue facing a criminal justice agency.

The timing matters. Jobs for police and detective supervisors are expected to grow 8% over ten years in NH. That's more than double the national rate. Tap link in comments to learn more.

Skilled trades careers are hands-on, in demand, and built to last, and a community college pathway is one of the best ways to get there.

We're proud to work with Bring Back the Trades Inc to share what's possible when you start a trades career with the right training. From electrical & HVAC to welding and automotive, our colleges help students across NH build real skills and put themselves in the driver's seat.

Thank you to 97.5 WOKQ and Townsquare Media for hosting these important conversations and helping more Granite Staters see what a future in the trades can look like.
