Coastal Carolina University is located in Conway, S.C., only nine miles from the national resort and hospitality destination of Myrtle Beach. The CCU HTC Honors College has launched the Top Scholars program, a new academic and leadership initiative designed to support some of ’s most outstanding honors students. This year’s inaugural cohort includes 10 exceptional students who will have access to prestigious learning opportunities, one-on-one faculty mentorship, enriched research support and a community of high-achieving peers.

The Gupta College of Science is now the CCU Gupta College of Science and Engineering, reflecting engineering's continued growth at and an expanding focus on preparing students for South Carolina’s evolving workforce.

The College is also establishing two new academic units: the Department of Engineering and the Department of Physics and Astronomy. This will lay the groundwork for future expansion into fields like coastal engineering, quantum computing, advanced materials, and beyond.

With engineering enrollment rising over 90% in five years, this reflects a strategic investment in students, our state, and the evolving STEM field, not just a name change.

is expanding its research ecosystem through a subaward of more than $835,000 from the South Carolina Research Authority, part of a $10 million National Science Foundation initiative. The funding will create and expand opportunities for students to engage in faculty-mentored research through programs such as Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF), Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP), and Rising Fellows. It will also help strengthen pathways from high school to college and from college to careers and graduate programs.
