CCU Women's and Gender Studies The WGST program is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of gender and sexuality as economic, political, & cultural constructs

Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) courses at CCU explore historical and contemporary connections between gender and society. Our students analyze topics in communication, marriage, sexuality, pop culture, and others through the lens of gender to become a more effective agent for social change. We also sponsor and co-host many events across campus, as well as strive to support other agents for change in our community. If you are interested in studying Women's and Gender Studies, have ideas on how to better our program or have questions, feel free to contact program director, Dr. Ina Seethaler, by any of the forms below:

Alumni Alert ‼️ 🎉 We are so proud of Sasha Teague Sasha for being hired as Law Assistant with Brittain Law Firm! 👏 ✍️ Read her testimony here: Hello! My name is Sasha and I’m a CCU alumni with dual majors in WGST and Political Science. After graduating, I received my Paralegal Specialist Certificate at HGTC and pursued an internship at Brittain Law Firm. Following my internship, I was hired as a full time legal assistant at the firm! I handle a number of different tasks ranging from client communication to organization. I love my job and believe that a lot of my greatest skills in the workplace stem from my involvement in the WGS department at CCU! During my senior internship under Amanda Masterpaul, I was provided a number of great opportunities in which I was able to research, teach, and engage the community! In my time at CCU I shared many meaningful discussions with my peers and faculty on all different topics, allowing me to see issues from a much broader lens. My job deals with a lot of different clients from a lot of different backgrounds, and I pride myself on being able to open myself up to the viewpoints of people of all types and backgrounds. I have always wanted to ensure that everyone is given an equal voice in the legal field, as I believe it is everyone’s right to be heard, and my background in WGS has helped me to understand all different points of view. I also believe my involvement in WGS has taught me stronger communication skills, helped me understand legislation and legal writing, and helped me be equal parts passionate and professional in my pursuits! I would like to thank every member of the WGS faculty, but especially Amanda Masterpaul for her continuing involvement and support in my success!
