Honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day | October 12, 2026

Today, the Hendrix community honors the history, resilience, and rich cultural traditions of Indigenous Peoples and communities.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day invites us to recognize the enduring contributions, knowledge, and leadership of Indigenous communities while acknowledging the histories, experiences, and ongoing challenges that have shaped their past and present.

Honoring Indigenous Peoples means more than recognition. It means listening, learning, respecting, and taking action. May we continue to uplift Indigenous voices, celebrate Indigenous cultures, challenge harmful stereotypes, and honor the sovereignty and self determination of Indigenous Peoples.

At Hendrix College, we believe building a welcoming and inclusive community requires a commitment to learning from one another, honoring our differences, and creating spaces where every person’s history and humanity are valued.

May we move beyond awareness toward meaningful action, today and every day.

AFD Gives Back is hosting a FREE Dental Services Day on Friday, September 25, beginning at 7:00 a.m. Services will be provided on a first come, first served basis, so early arrival is encouraged.

This month, we invite the Hendrix community to celebrate with intention: learn and listen, honor trailblazers, support Hispanic/Latinx-owned businesses, advocate for equity, and participate in opportunities to connect and celebrate together.

Heritage Month is more than an acknowledgment, it’s an opportunity to deepen our understanding, uplift community, and appreciate the rich diversity that strengthens us all.
