In 1926, the Germans made the world's first sci-fi epic, set in the year 2026. Come watch it with us on Coastal's biggest screen ("as director Fritz Lang had (probably) intended!") and discuss with faculty members Farrah Hersh (Film Studies), Sven Kube (History), and Jonathan Trerise (Philosophy) how its predictions played out!

Take a walk with Professor Madison Cates around Hobcaw Barony. Blending Southern Studies and Public History, Dr. Cates is working with students to uncover and reconstruct the complex past of the estate and its community. There's much more work to be done, so stay tuned as this history of freedom is taking shape!

Our faculty use the summer to stay abreast of the latest trends in researching the past and teaching history. Dr. Whalen, who's interested in the interrelations between war and society, traveled to New Orleans for a Faculty Seminar in WW2 History at NOLA's prestigious WW2 museum.
