Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 field trip registration is now open for Tennessee High Schools Appalachian Center For Craft

Students get a tour of the Craft Center, a workshop in one of our studios, and their own handmade craft to take home. Pick from an exciting variety of workshops in clay, blacksmithing, fibers, metals, glass, and wood, all led by teaching artists. Announcing Fiber Studio Tennessee Tech Fibers Artist in Residence for 2026-27, Jesse Satterfield!

We are thrilled to have Jesse joining us this year in the studio at the Appalachian Center for Craft and as an Adjunct Instructor here at Tennessee Tech! We’ll be sure to show you more of Jesse’s work all year and also follow Jesse Jesse Satterfield to learn more! Welcome, Jesse!

“Jesse Satterfield was raised in a tourist trap on the Jersey Shore and spent his adolescence working as a boardwalk carnival barker— handing out fuzzy, stuffed prizes to sunburnt New Yorkers with bad attitudes. He suffered for several years as a fine art framer, production seamster, upholsterer, and workroom manager in the commercial interior design industry before returning to Fine Art and Academia. He holds an MFA in Textiles from Kent State University, as well as an MA in Critical Studies and BFA in Fibers from the Maryland Institute College of Art. ”
