SHANE BRATHWAITE BAGS GOLD FOR BARBADOS- CAC 110 HURDLES!
We told you he could do it- and he did. Shane Brathwaite, one of Barbados' most accomplished athletes of ALL TIME, delivered a season's best performance to take GOLD in the Men's 110 Hurdles at the ongoing CAC Championships in a swift 13.38 seconds, a time which will certainly see him fly up the 2018 IAAF list of the World's fastest in this key event.
On a day where there were a few disappointments, as some athletes found the going tough, and came nowhere near their season's best, nor personal best times, Brathwaite showed his calibre & experience & delivered where it mattered most- in the finals.
Kierre Beckles made the finals of the Women's 100 Hurdles, but placed 8th in 13.48 seconds. What this means, however, is that Barbados has cemented its standing as a GLOBAL powerhouse in the Hurdles as Andrea Blackett, Ryan Brathwaite, Shane Brathwaite, Kierre Beckles, Greggmar Swift, Victor Houston, Stephen Jones, Gabriel Burnett & others have delivered at major international championships in this event in the past.
Yet another medal looms for Barbados as the Men's 4x100m relay begins with tomorrow's semi-finals, & with Barbados having won a silver medal at the World Relay Championships, & with a team which includes 100m finalists Mario Burke & Burkheart Ellis along with the Golden Boss himself Shane Brathwaite- we believe a medal here is a definite, & a Gold medal could very well be up for grabs.
Congratulations to you Mr. Brathwaite Sir- you are now the KING of the sprint hurdles in Central America, South America & the Caribbean- your GOLD MEDAL PROVES IT.
