The Alliance of Latin American Students (ALAS) was created in 1981 as “Latin American Students Association” to represent the rich diversity of Latin American cultures present at the University of Miami. Through cultural and professional events alongside student-led initiatives, ALAS serves to unite and empower Latin American students as well as students interested in learning about Lat

in America and the Caribbean. During the annual “Hispanic Heritage Month,” ALAS invites the UM community to enjoy delicious food, music, and other activities that promote cultural awareness in the biggest Hispanic-Latin celebration in the United States.

ATTENTION ‼️ ALAS x is hosting the 4th annual Canefiesta celebration next Wednesday, April 2nd at Lakeside Patio and Stage from 6pm-9pm. The theme this year is Throwback 2000s Reggaeton – Inspired by Daddy Yankee’s Barrio Fino album (2004) & Don Omar’s The Last Don (2003) album. There will be PLENY of food, activities, a live DJ, a stilt group performance, a Photo Booth, t-shirt giveaways (as shown in the pictures above) and more fun surprises. SENIORS- we also have a special ceremony where we will give out roses and cords to show recognition for the class of 2025 (must be an active member). We are so excited to see everyone there 🫶🏼🫶🏼 don’t miss this special opportunity!!!
