A nearly six-foot-tall humanoid has joined the RoboCanes. researchers are putting the new robot to work, developing software that combines advanced robotics and AI to tackle everyday household tasks.

This summer, they were one of just 24 teams worldwide to qualify for the RoboCup@Home league, where they had the top-performing adult-sized robot and were the only team from the Americas to compete with a humanoid.

NSF CAREER AWARD HONORS MILAN CURCIC

The Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) is delighted to share the exciting news that Milan Curcic has received a prestigious National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) award. This highly competitive award recognizes early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education.

Milan’s project, CAREER: Quantifying Wind-driven Wave Tearing and its Impacts on Hurricane Air-Sea Drag, will advance our understanding of air–sea interactions and their role in hurricane dynamics.
