Last week, we kicked off our RPD Guest Lecture Series with RPD LL.M. alumnus Tyler Dow (’04)!

During his session, “From Code to Concrete: How We’re Using AI, Blockchain, and Real Estate Development Together in the Real World,” Tyler shared how emerging technologies like AI and blockchain are making their way into real estate development and what that looks like in practice.

It was a great conversation that gave our students a look at how technology is changing the real estate industry and creating new opportunities along the way.

Thank you, Tyler, for sharing your experience with our students. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to start this semester’s RPD Guest Lecture Series!

We wrapped up our Guest Speaker Series with RPD LL.M. alumna Christina Bilenki, who shared insight into her work in land use and zoning at Miskel Backman LLP and what it looks like to guide projects through the approval process across South Florida. Hearing from an alum actively working in the field gave students a clear and practical perspective on how the program translates into real-world experience.

Back on campus connecting with current RPD LL.M. students 🤝

We had the opportunity to hear from alumni Colton Chrimes and James Rodgers, who shared insight into their work in real estate law and development and how their experience at UM continues to shape their careers. From navigating transactions to stepping into the profession with intention, the conversation gave students a real look at what it takes to grow in this space.

They spoke about taking initiative, trusting your path, and being intentional about the environments you choose. It was an honest and thoughtful conversation that blended career advice with real-life perspective, and one our students really connected with.

A look inside one of Miami’s newest developments ✨

Last week, RPD students, MRED+U students, and MHBS students had the opportunity to visit Manor Biscayne alongside Jessica Melendez, Senior Vice President of Development at The Related Group and RPD Advisory Board member. Jessica walked students through the project, sharing insight into the development process and what goes into bringing a large-scale residential community to life.

Located in North Miami, Manor Biscayne is a newly developed residential community featuring hundreds of units and over 30,000 square feet of curated amenities designed around wellness, social connection, and everyday luxury.

From touring the property to hearing directly from someone leading projects at this scale, students got a firsthand look at how development moves from concept to completion.

Thank you to Jessica and her team for hosting and continuing to support the RPD program.
