DMC Student Engagement and Retention

SER coordinates the efforts of multiple offices whose work involves support for students.

The Department of Student Engagement Retention (SER) Services is part of the Division of Students Affairs and is under the direction of the Dean of Student Engagement and Retention. These include Career Development, Student Leadership and Campus Life, Student Success Center, Veterans Services, Counseling Services, Disability Services, and Retention Services. In the spirit of providing our students a quality education, SER Office offers an appropriate array of support services and provides assistance to any student to identify options and resources to find a solution to their concerns and answer any questions. The Office of the Dean of Student Engagement and Retention (SER) coordinates the Student Conduct Administration processes, serves as an advocate for students facing challenges to their success as students, and assist students in filing Student Complaints. We have staff ready to assist students, staff, faculty, family members, and community members with student issues and concerns.

Del Mar College celebrated National Student Parent Month with our annual Viking Family Connection Day! Campus & community partners came together to connect parenting students and their families with valuable resources, including a resource fair, workshops, presentations focused on mental health and student success, a mobile health clinic, and a SNAP application workshop.

We loved seeing our Viking families connecting, learning, and finding the support they need to thrive! And while we celebrated yesterday, we celebrate and support our parenting students every day! We know that being a student and a parent is a journey and our Vikings don't have to navigate it alone!

Representatives from Valdar's Market had the opportunity to attend the Coastal Bend Food Bank's Annual Agency Relations Conference to stay up to date on policies, best practices, and resources that directly impact the students we serve.

Our goal is simple: to strengthen our partnership, stay informed, and ensure we are providing the best possible service, resources, and support to our students and their families. 🥫📚💙

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to learn alongside our community partners and bring that knowledge back to campus!
