This summer, members of our subunit had the opportunity to visit the Texas State Aquarium (Texas State Aquarium) and spend the day with their Aquateens! 🐟

Our members introduced students to fisheries science and local fish species before heading into the aquarium for a hands-on fish identification activity 🐠📝

We had a great time sharing a little bit of fisheries science with the next generation of marine scientists. Thank you to the Texas State Aquarium and the Aquateens for having us!

At last month’s TAMUCC AFS Student Subunit meeting, we had the opportunity to hear from two guest speakers who shared insights into their research and career paths in marine science!

Dr. Dominic Swift spoke about his work with sharks, while Dr. Joseph Matt highlighted his research on oysters and genetics, offering two distinct and valuable perspectives in the field 🦈🦪

It was a great meeting with engaging discussions, and we appreciate everyone who attended along with our speakers for taking the time to share their experiences!

Last week, our subunit attended the Texas Chapter American Fisheries Society () Annual Meeting held in Galveston, TX! 🐟🦈🎣🧫🧬🔬🥼🧪
