Dr. Tracy Harper, Assistant Professor of Reading at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, recently presented at the 2026 Texas Association for Literacy Education (TALE) Summer Conference at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas alongside West Oso ISD educators Leticia Adame, Emily Smyder, and Jade De La Rosa. They presented "Sharing Our Stories: How a Literacy Community Made Meaningful Changes," highlighting how a multi-year professional learning cohort supported teacher growth and strengthened literacy instruction through inquiry, collaboration, and reflection. They are pictured here leading their session.
The event also marked the conclusion of Dr. Robin Pizzitola's term as Chair of TALE. Under her leadership, the organization continued its mission of promoting literacy through advocacy, professional learning, collaboration, and community engagement across Texas. She is pictured here with nationally recognized literacy leader Donalyn Miller, who was featured as keynote speaker of the conference and brought together educators from across Texas to explore this year's theme, "Reading Takes Us Places: Book Joy and Reading Journeys."
We are proud to celebrate the leadership and contributions of our College of Education and Human Development faculty and the strong partnerships with area school districts and state organizations that continue to make a difference for educators and students alike.
