When CDEC Intern student Ashly saw the popularity of this gross motor activity of hitting a ball from a t-stand, she jumped into action implementing appropriate guidance of turn taking and staying safe from swinging bats…..both not easy concepts to tackle with toddlers!

Students in CDEC 1323 Observation and Assessment course had a chance to use the The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Code of Ethics for Early Childhood Professionals as they examined any ethical implications and their ethical responsibilities involving the use of child assessment information.

Students enrolled in CDEC: 1356 Emergent Literacy class learned about the hummingbird migration through the Coastal Bend that happens in September, and created their own hummingbird puppets to use with children.

Using play-based learning is a great way to support children’s awareness of natural happenings in the environment.
