Putting empathy into action through community health research ❤️

Senior Andy Rivera Ramirez, pictured at right, migrated on her own to the U.S. six years ago, encouraged by her family to pursue new educational opportunities.

Working with Professor Jena Curtis, the Cortland METS Program and Family Planning of South-Central New York, she’s led important research on how migrant families experience healthcare, with a focus on reproductive health.

Their collective effort is helping to develop better health education resources, stronger partnerships with local providers and better outcomes for all.

🎤 It’s National College Radio Day!

WSUC 90.5 FM The Dragon is celebrating 50 years on the air on Friday, Oct. 2, with an event-filled day that includes special programming and on-air appearances by radio station alumni.

Special programming, alumni panel and guest DJs planned for the event.

“The Laramie Project” offers an unflinching look at the pain, hate and tragedy associated with the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student at the University of Wyoming.

The documentary-style play will be performed through Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Dowd Fine Arts Center Theatre. Thursday’s opening night performance is sold out.

The play reenacts the words and emotions around the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard.

Buy local! 🪴 Loved seeing this Farmers Market pop-up in the SLC

Health Promotion recently hosted a Wellness Wednesday event to help connect local farmers, makers and bakers with the campus community.

From handcrafted soaps to fresh veggies to homemade baked goods, there was a little bit of everything. And as a bonus, the first 100 students to attend scored $10 vouchers.
