Congratulations to Brother Johnny Lamb ‘22 for being our MOID of the Week!

Originally from Hammond, IN, Johnny is a PPE major and Religion minor. He is a member of the Wabash football team and is involved with the WLAIP Program. Within the chapter house, he currently serves as the Grand Treasurer. He’s previously served as a pledge educator and as the IM chair.

His favorite thing about Kappa Sigma is the strong sense of brotherhood and unity within our fraternity. “Everyone gets along and works together to tackle any issues that we face,” he said. “I can genuinely have a good conversation with every single person that lives in this house.” Looking forward, he plans on becoming a financial advisor and using his role to benefit those in his community that need the help. Congrats Johnny!

This week we honor Brother Hamza Moudden ‘21 as Moid of the Week! Born in Manhattan but raised in Morocco and Harlem, Hamza is a Physics major and Math minor. He currently serves as the Grand Treasurer of the house, but he’s previously served as the house manger, risk manager, HIC chair, and scholarship chair. Outside of the Alpha Pi chapter, he is the treasurer of the Society of Physics Students and a member of organizations like the African Students Association, French Club, and Boxing Club. He also played for the Wabash College soccer team but had to retire early due to a handful of injuries. Nevertheless, he’s a beast on the field. In addition to all of this, he is one of two CARE Team leaders for the fraternity, guiding our efforts to fight COVID-19. “After graduating this semester, I plan on completing my Bachelor’s and Master’s in electrical engineering at Washington University at St. Louis. On the bigger picture, I hope to use both my liberal arts experience and technical skills to solve current issues we are facing today.” Give it up for Hamza!

Many of us at Kappa Sigma have been keeping ourselves busy with internships and other learning experiences this summer - we're always eager to gain new skills and enhance our professional development. This summer, brothers Cesar Martinez '21 and Cristian Aleman '22 have been interning with LAT Studios in their hometown, El Paso, TX. Watch as they give a tour of the facility and explain what their day-to-day looks like!

Last Sunday, the Alpha Pi Chapter held its inaugural Laps for Leaders philanthropy event, a swim-a-thon that raised money for Our Turn to Serve. The organization trains and matches service dogs with veterans suffering from PTSD. The event was in honor of Jay Rice ‘86, a MOID who is a three-time All-American swimmer who then served three tours in Afghanistan. As of today, we have raised $6,830 for OTTS! Thank you to our generous alumni who contributed to this great cause!
