Doane University is a leader in the liberal arts and sciences in Nebraska.

The university is comprised of the College of Arts and Sciences for traditional, residential undergraduates in Crete; the College of Professional Studies in Lincoln, and Omaha; and the College of Education and College of Business, which serves undergraduate and graduate students across all campuses. We serve both traditional and nontraditional students in obtaining an undergraduate or graduate deg

rees. We have 50+ undergraduate majors and five graduate programs with four masters' programs and the Doctorate of Education.

- Complete 12 credit hours of course work
- Attain a minimum semester GPA of 3.700

As seniors prepare for graduation and reflect on their journey here at Doane, some of their favorite memories and experiences that have stuck with them all would be their study abroad journeys. Students who are able to take this opportunity, come back to Doane with an eagerness to share their experience with others.

Doane helps prepare students for studying abroad through pre-departure sessions, where Tim Burge, Director of International Programs at Doane, walks through important information regarding visas, budgeting, scholarships and more. Students are also required to pass a pre-health examination through the Health and Wellness Center. Doane also develops many international trips of their own through various programs. The English, psychology, Spanish, theatre, philosophy, and sociology departments are some of the programs that put on faculty-led study abroad trips...

The Liberal Arts Studies degree is designed for students seeking a bachelor’s degree for career advancement and personal growth. The program of study provides a curriculum focusing on skills highly valued by employers such as critical and analytical thinking skills, and oral and written communication skills.

🔸 Career Paths & Beyond 🔸
- Many graduates with this degree fit one of several profiles.
- The Liberal Arts Studies program is often their quickest path to graduation and can get them moving on to that next educational goal: graduate school.
- Some students work in an industry that they want to stay in and advance, but they need a bachelor’s degree (in any area of study) to advance.
- Students who want to quickly earn a bachelor’s degree, and move on to Doane University’s Initial Teacher Certification program. This path prepares students to teach in elementary grades (K-6), in secondary grades (7-12 in an areas in which Doane endorses individuals) and in special education grades (K-12). Secondary endorsement areas include the sciences, mathematics, social sciences, English, language arts, foreign languages, and art (K-12).

Ever wonder what the Crete campus is like when students leave for the summer? June and July see hundreds of people stay in the residence halls and use outdoor and indoor spaces across campus for their camps and classes, like the Mid-America Woodcarvers Association,Launch Leadership and Adventure Zone.

A few months after Jared Taylor graduated from Doane, he landed in Antarctica. After a quick promotion, he works as one of two sous chefs at the Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station. It's cool temperature wise in the South Pole (it's hit -101 windchill!) and it is as cool living there as one can imagine. We asked Taylor what his day-to-day life is like and was thrilled with the amount of penguin pictures sent. Like anybody, he faces challenges. Cooking for people with limited access fresh fruits and veggies ("freshies") to start. A gigabyte cap on his internet usage. Like any good chef, though, he comes up with creative solutions and is happy with his final product.
