Society of Professional Journalists at WCU SPJ is a professional organization that includes broadcast, print and online journalists, journalism educators, and students interested in journalism.

The Society of Professional Journalists works to improve and protect journalism. The organization is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior. The Western Carolinian is looking for designers for the printed publications starting in Fall 2021.
This is a great opportunity to build a resume while gaining workplace experience.

Requirements-
-Registered student at WCU for the 2021-2022 school year
-Skilled in Adobe InDesign and the Adobe Creative Cloud
-Must attend weekly staff meetings
-Meet deadlines for bi-monthly print papers
-Create advertisements for all local ads sold

The Western Carolinian is hiring staff writers for the 2021-2022 school year!
This is a paid position that looks great on a resume and counts as work experience in the journalism field!

Requirements:
-WCU student enrolled in the Fall
-Knowledge of journalistic writing, AP style knowledge is preferred
-Willing to attend weekly meetings
-Willing to produce 2-3 stories every two weeks for the print edition
