WCU Communication Department Our B.S. degree in communication gives you a choice of concentrations in broadcasting, health communication, journalism or public relations.

Welcome to the Department of Communication. The faculty and staff of the department are committed to giving Western Carolina University students an excellent educational experience. In addition to their academic credentials, many of the department's faculty members bring years of extensive professional experience to the classroom. Each year, approximately 75 to 85 students earn their degree in com

munication in one of four concentrations--broadcasting, health communication, journalism and public relations. Currently, almost 200 students major in communication. Our facilities are equipped with the latest technology in order to provide students with marketable skills. In addition to a solid academic background, each student will participate in service or experiential learning in the region. Communication majors are required to do a professional internship. Western grads enter the most sought-after fields, often in major markets, thanks to their internship experiences. If you have questions about the Department of Communication, please contact me.
