Visit the Climate Center to learn more about this great 9-month paid CYLC Climate Action & Environmental Justice Career Pathway Fellowship.
BENEFITS OF JOINING:
While enrolled in our CYLC fellowship, students will be partnered with a community-based organization where they will engage in work-based learning opportunities.
Fellows will be awarded up to $10,000 in stipends and up to $5,000 in scholarships during their participation in the nine-month fellowship.
Earn Certificates in Climate Change Studies and Environmental Justice.

ELIGIBILITY:
Ages 18-24 (students over 24 are eligible to apply)
Must be enrolled at WLAC by Fall 2026
No prior degree or completion of a degree during the program

This program is designed to serve Opportunity Youth, first-generation students, non-traditional students, and students without a prior degree.

Congratulations to Alexxess Chavez who was recently featured in the LACCD Student Spotlight series. Alexxess exemplifies the transformation and growth that students can achieve at . As a proud transwoman who was formerly incarcerated, she enrolled at West with the assistance of the Rising Scholars which helped her navigate college systems and gain personal and academic tools needed to succeed. She went on to connect with the college’s Climate Center where she became Climate Ambassador and grew as a leader, presenter and mentor. Additionally, she served as president of the Associate Student Organization (A*O) organizing events and activities and serving as the students’ voice. Alexxess, an Honors Transfer student, has been accepted to multiple UC campuses with scholarship support and will graduate from West this Spring.
