Automation can make a construction process faster, but faster does not always mean better.

Before adopting AI, robotics, autonomous equipment, or automated workflows, constructors still need to evaluate safety, cost, accountability, ethics, and how the technology fits the work.

Our latest blog looks at a practical framework for making those decisions.

The Board guides AIC's strategic direction, oversees the organization's certification and education programs, and helps set priorities for advancing professionalism across the construction industry.

Strong candidates are constructors who have demonstrated leadership within their own careers and a commitment to the standards AIC represents, including its Code of Ethics.

If you know a colleague who fits that description, take the time to submit a nomination before the window closes. https://f.mtr.cool/cxbb5n4cqc

Unpriced change orders. Strict 48-hour notice traps. Vague scope phrases like “industry standard.”

In commercial construction, energy, and heavy infrastructure, project margins are rarely lost on trade performance—they are lost in administrative contract traps long before work hits the field.

AIC is proud to partner with Superlegal and the American Arbitration Association to highlight a practical framework for closing the gap between contract risk, GC negotiations, and dispute mitigation across the project lifecycle.

Key takeaways from their joint playbook:

• Winnable Front-End Redlines: How AI review flags conflicting SOWs, missing attachments, and aggressive notice clauses—generating compromise language General Contractors are actually willing to accept.
• Airtight Dispute Clauses: How tools like AAA’s ClauseBuilder AI ensure dispute clauses are deal-specific and enforceable before signature.
• Streamlined Dispute Resolution: How AAA’s AI Arbitrator workflow structures document-heavy construction claims so human arbitrators can issue faster awards.

Join Superlegal and AAA on October 20th for a live joint masterclass featuring:

• Chris Lewis (VP of Legal Operations, Superlegal)
• Rachel Shekhtman (CRO, Superlegal)
• Fernanda Flores (Director of ADR Services - Technology, AAA)
• Joseph Padjune III, Esq. (Director of AI Business Development, AAA)

Ethics in construction is defined by daily decisions: what you report to an owner, how you handle a subcontractor dispute, whether you hold the line on safety when a deadline tightens.

Our latest article examines the principles behind those decisions and how they're built into every level of AIC certification.

Nominations for the AIC National Awards and Board of Directors close October 20.

These recognitions honor constructors, educators, and organizations demonstrating the standards of professionalism, ethics, and leadership that AIC certification is built on.

If you know a colleague whose work deserves that recognition, or a peer ready to help guide AIC's leadership, take a moment to submit their name before the window closes.

Nominations are reviewed carefully, so submitting early gives the committee more time to consider each one. https://f.mtr.cool/27ctj4vqs2

After your application for the Fall exam has been approved, you'll receive your testing window and instructions for scheduling.

The exam itself reflects what you already manage on the job and in the classroom: schedule, cost, safety, and the judgment required to apply them well, including knowing when to question a tool's output.

Certification confirms that judgment holds up under pressure.

At Conroe ISD, AIC constructor certification is more than a credential. It’s knowledge their construction professionals put to work across contracts, budgets, project coordination, field decisions, and professional development.

We recently highlighted how members of the district’s Planning and Construction team view the value of the CAC and CPC, including the broader perspective, confidence, and credibility those certifications can support throughout a construction career.
