UNG Public Safety Academy

UNG Public Safety Academy Graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Basic Law Enforcement Certification.

Our academy fulfills the basic mandate requirements for Georgia and offers an additional 500 plus hours of training, that's over 1,000 hours of POST training. The Department of Criminal Justice Public Safety Academy provides basic law enforcement training courses approved by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council to students who declare a major in criminal justice and graduate from the baccalaureate program on UNG's Dahlonega campus.

Spent a couple of days with our UNG/Jackson Co. SO Public Safety Academy during EVOC week at the closed Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson. Sheriff Kevin McCook did an excellent job getting this facility to train the cadets in EVOC and urban pursuit driving. The half mile oval track and huge infield were excellent for training.
Also a huge thank you to our partner agencies for helping with EVOC instruction.

Yesterday, the University of North Georgia Advanced Public Safety Academy at Forsyth graduated Class 008.

During the 20-week academy, these deputies and officers were pushed, but they never quit. They leave this academy with additional training that would take them years to acquire while working. They are better prepared to serve and make a positive difference in their communities, through agencies across North Georgia.
