International Nighthawks Soar Above UNG! 🦅🌎

Meet our Global Ambassador Leonardo from Curitiba, Brazil 🇧🇷! Leonardo shares what his experience has been like as an international student on UNG’s Dahlonega Campus and how UNG has become a home away from home:

“UNG has been a great fit for me as an international student because it has given me the opportunity to pursue my education as a Chemistry major while also playing the sport that I love, baseball. The scholarships I received have made it possible for me to study here, and being part of the baseball team has allowed me to make friends and a family that I will have for the rest of my life. I am also thankful for the welcoming community at UNG, where professors and students have made me feel at home even though I am far from Brazil. As a Global Ambassador, I have also had the opportunity to help other international students feel welcomed and supported at UNG.”

No matter where you are from in the world, UNG will always be your home away from home!

Meet Jesse Woods, an Education Abroad Advisor at the Center for Global Engagement! 🌎✈️

Jesse joined CGE in September 2024 and helps UNG students discover study abroad opportunities and find programs that fit their academic and personal goals.

Jesse’s passion for international education grew from their own experiences at UNG. They earned a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies with a minor in Russian and spent a year studying abroad in South Korea as a recipient of the nationally competitive Boren Scholarship.

Jesse is passionate about helping students experience the world through education abroad, explore new cultures, and develop a deeper understanding of global perspectives. Outside of work, Jesse enjoys crocheting and reading about international affairs! 🌏📚
