The UNG Corps Advisory Council (CAC), is the philanthropic support group of the UNG Senior Vice President and Superintendent of the Cadet Leadership Academy dedicated to advancing the mission and vision of the Corps through partnerships with alumni, friends, and those who share our values of service to the nation.

Friends of UNG, Transforming Cadet Lives Through Global Internships!

Meet Nick and Annie Shreiber, originally from Argentina of European ancestry, and now proud residents of Dahlonega, GA. “Annie and I feel deeply grateful for the good fortune we’ve experienced in life—financially, in health, and especially within our family.

Sharing that good fortune is important to us. Our greatest passion is our family: two sons in their early 40s, both devoted fathers, husbands, and professionals. We’ve always supported them whenever needed, and we’re equally committed to helping our five wonderful grandchildren, especially with their education.
Beyond family, we’re passionate about education and music. We endowed the Nick and Anne Marie Shreiber Scholarship at UNG’s College of Science and Mathematics, and a similar scholarship at Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business.
Since moving to Dahlonega in 2020, we’ve been continually impressed by UNG’s staff, programs, and achievements. Learning about the Cadet Program’s impact inspired us further. When James Corbin shared the initiative to send cadets overseas, we realized airfare was often the biggest barrier. Having experienced the transformative power of international travel ourselves, we felt compelled to create a scholarship to help cadets seize these life-changing opportunities. “

Nick and Annie Shreiber’s commitment to education and their belief in the transformative power of global experiences have opened doors for UNG cadets that might otherwise remain closed. Their generosity not only changes individual lives but also strengthens the entire UNG community. As we celebrate donors like the Shreibers, we are reminded that one act of kindness can ripple outward, inspiring others and shaping the future for generations to come. Thanks to their support, UNG cadets are better equipped to lead, serve, and make a difference—both at home and around the world.

Leaders build leaders — and one cadet proved it before he even graduated.

While still a student at the University of North Georgia, 2LT Jack Rainbow (’23) established the Webb-Burke Servant Leadership Scholarship — a gift created not from wealth, but from gratitude. His goal: to empower future cadets to lead fully, just as others once made possible for him.

This scholarship also honors two alumni, Bill Webb (’12) and Clayton Burke (’18) — mentors who embodied selfless service and inspired countless cadets.

Jack’s story reminds us that true leadership means honor through impact — giving back, not someday, but now.

He was a Phenomenal Leader and Friend

In our final Memorial Day remembrance video, we honor CPT Jeremy Alan Chandler, '97. CPT Chandler was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 during his third deployment, serving with 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). His awards and decorations are numerous and include two Bronze Star Medals with V device, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, and Special Forces and Ranger Tabs.

As part of our Memorial Day remembrance campaign, we honor CPT Charles B. Johnson '57. CPT Johnson was the first combat casualty in Vietnam from North Georgia College and the state of Georgia. His legacy endures in the memory of his family, many of whom followed his example into service, and through the memorial scholarship that bears his name.

The Type of Leader Paratroopers Deserve

As part of our Memorial Day remembrance campaign, today we highlight the 1LT Weston Cecil Lee Memorial Endowed Scholarship, established by his friends and fraternity brothers to honor his memory and impact on their lives. 1LT Lee was a graduate of the Class of 2014 and was killed in action in Iraq in April 2017 while serving with 1st BN, 325th Infantry, 2nd BCT, 82nd Airborne Division.

Weston wanted nothing more than to serve his country and lead Rangers. He accomplished both at the highest level, as noted by his Brigade commander who said, “1LT Weston Lee was an extraordinary young man and officer. He was exactly the type of leader our paratroopers deserve.”

Your gift to this memorial fund does more than preserve a memory—it helps to ensure that all North Georgia officers, current and future, follow Weston’s lead and become the type of leader that our Soldiers deserve.
