Twenty years ago, we launched our "Saving Appalachian Gardens and Stories" initiative at the 10th Annual Bear on the Square Mountain Festival. How time flies! We never stopped collecting heirloom seeds, but this summer we are re-launching our oral history initiative. Would you like to interview a friend or relative about their memories of Lumpkin County? All collected oral histories will be preserved in the UNG archives. Please email [email protected] for more information.

“On Her Time, In Her View” Closing Reception and Silent Auction

August 18, 5-7 pm

Join us once again to celebrate the legacy of Alice V. Cordle-Sampson!

We have loved having Alice’s photos on the walls of the Vickery House over the past year, but it is time for them to come down in preparation for our next exhibit. This is your chance to take a piece of Alice’s legacy home! We will hold a silent auction for the framed photos to the accompaniment of wine, beer, canapés, and—of course—music. All proceeds will go to support programming at the Vickery House over the coming year.
