UNG Boar's Head Brigade - Corps of Cadets

UNG Boar's Head Brigade - Corps of Cadets For over 150 years, the University of North Georgia Corps of Cadets has developed leaders of character for the Army and beyond.

Guided by our motto, Truth and Wisdom, we continue delivering the Corps of the Future. The University of North Georgia, designated by the Department of the Army as a Senior Military College, is one of six senior military colleges in the nation. The Corps of Cadets, also known as the Boar’s Head Brigade, is founded upon principles of integrity and honor; its cadets live in an atmosph

ere highly conducive to the development of young men and women for leadership roles in their chosen professions. Since 1873, members of the Corps of Cadets have learned the principles of leadership by serving as cadet leaders in positions of increasing responsibility.

University of North Georgia cadets recently traveled to New Mexico to compete in the Bataan Memorial Death March, honoring the soldiers who endured one of World War II’s most brutal events.

In UNG’s first appearance at the event, cadets demonstrated grit, teamwork and resilience while reflecting on the sacrifice and legacy of those who came before them.

Today, we honor all the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

We remember the North Georgia cadets and alumni who answered the call to serve and never made it home.

May their sacrifice never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Cadet. Athlete. Leader.

Meet Grace McGill, the new Brigade Commander for the 2026–27 academic year.

McGill has distinguished herself both on the field and within the Corps of Cadets. A member of the UNG women’s soccer team and Scabbard and Blade, she has consistently demonstrated the discipline, commitment and leadership that define North Georgia.

We congratulate McGill on this achievement and look forward to the leadership she will bring to the Corps in the year ahead.

Last week marked a defining moment for the Cadets of the University of North Georgia as they transitioned from cadets to Army officers, taking the oath as Second Lieutenants before crossing the graduation stage as college graduates.

It was also a proud moment for the families, friends and cadre who supported them throughout the journey.

Excited to see what this next generation of leaders accomplishes!

After years of early morning PT, long days, tough challenges, and countless hours of dedication, 73 University of North Georgia cadets will be recognized today during the Commissioning & NLST Recognition Ceremony.

60 cadets will commission into the United States Army, Army National Guard, and United States Army Reserve, while 13 National Leadership Service Track cadets are recognized for their commitment to leadership and service.

From their first days as Frogs to the leaders they are today, these cadets have earned this moment through resilience, sacrifice, and hard work. Though their paths ahead may differ, they all leave North Georgia with the same commitment: to lead with character, serve others and make a difference wherever they go.

We wish them the very best as they begin the next chapter of service and leadership.
