We're committed to investing in people and building Texas’ workforce. Earlier today, July 17, Dallas College proudly welcomed the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) for a special check-signing ceremony to celebrate a grand total of $3.8 million in grants supporting our construction and manufacturing consortiums and Lockheed Martin.

Through this partnership with 22 business partners across the three areas listed above, we will provide 80,000-plus hours of industry-specific training to nearly 2,000 employees who will gain the skills needed for well-paying careers in our community.

Together, we’re meeting today’s employers' demands for a highly skilled workforce that will help drive Texas’ economic growth for years to come.

“I came into college really scared, just because I’d never been to a real school before. I’d never done schooling in person; it was always online. I didn’t know many people, but on the first day of new student orientation, I ended up meeting someone who is now one of my closest friends. Once classes started, I found out the college has student clubs, and then I made even more friends. This all led me to find so many amazing people.

“The people that I've met here is the biggest thing for me. It’s made me a better person and a better student. It's definitely helping me with communication and relationships because I'm not as scared or as anxious. I'm more open to meeting people and networking, which will help my future. I used to be so closed off because I never really had experiences meeting people, so now I’ve opened up and am enjoying new experiences because of that. I know this is a cliche thing to say, because it’s repeated a lot, but putting yourself out there and being as involved as possible is the best thing you can do for your own development and growth. Coming to campus was a really good transition for me. I can still live at home, work at the same job that I've been at, but still be in a new environment, where I also feel safe. And I'm doing it all while saving money and building my college resume.”

We made the national news! Tarik “T” Warren has spent six years serving Dallas College as a structural trades tech, keeping our campuses safe and welcoming. During the pandemic, T returned to his longtime passion: photography. He turned that spark into a way to tell meaningful stories with the support of Professor Jesse Hornbuckle and new classes to grow his skills. His portraits, featured in the recent Honor Endures exhibit at our Mountain View Campus, shine a light on the overlooked experiences of African American veterans. His work even reached a national audience on “CBS Mornings.” Watch now 👇
