From Dallas to leading a nationwide impact, DBU alumnus Ed Fry has dedicated his career to serving faith-based organizations through Christ-centered leadership. After earning his MBA at DBU, Ed went on to found FaithSearch Partners, where he combines decades of experience with a calling to help ministries, universities, and healthcare systems find leaders who align with their mission. Guided daily by his faith and shaped by his time at DBU, Ed continues to trust the Lord’s direction—encouraging others to focus not on the distant future, but on faithfully following God one day at a time. Dallas Baptist University is honored to announce one of the largest gifts in DBU history from longtime friends and supporters Jim and Julie Turner, for the Carter School of Business.

Their transformational investment in DBU’s STAND FIRM. STAND OUT. capital campaign establishes the future home of the Don and Linda Carter School of Business: Jim and Julie Turner Hall. Within the walls of Turner Hall, the next generation of Christ-centered business leaders will be shaped through academic innovation and hands-on learning opportunities.

For decades, the Turners have faithfully supported Christian education, student scholarships, and the mission of DBU. Their legacy of generosity and servant leadership will continue to impact students, communities, and industries for generations to come.

“This is a moment of profound gratitude,” shared DBU President Dr. Adam C. Wright. “Because of Jim and Julie Turner’s leadership gift, the impact of this campaign and this business school will be amplified for future generations of Christ-centered leaders.”

We are deeply grateful for the Turner family’s unwavering faith, generosity, and commitment to advancing the Kingdom through Christian higher education.

Meet Brooklyn, a graduating senior double majoring in Business Management and Marketing in the Carter School of Business!

When asked about her time in her classes, Brooklyn says, “I cannot recommend Professor Sandra Crawford Williamson’s classes enough — any of them. My top three were Digital Marketing, Marketing in the Startup, and Promotional Strategy. Each of these courses sharpened how I think about strategy, messaging, and reaching an audience, and I drew on all of them directly throughout my internship.
But beyond the classroom, she has shifted my whole world. She has been so much more than a professor to me — she has been a mentor, a leader, and someone who has genuinely walked alongside me every step of the way. From my time in leadership roles on campus, to navigating my internship, to stepping into a full-time role post-graduation, she has been there holding my head up through all of it.
She is a woman who has built a remarkable career in the business world, working her way up through hard work and excellence, and she brings that depth of knowledge and wisdom into everything she teaches. What makes her truly special, though, is that she never separates her faith from her work — she ties it into everything. Her testimony alone has opened my eyes in ways I didn’t expect, and watching her live as a successful businesswoman, a wife, and a mother of three has shown me what it really looks like to do it all with grace and purpose.
Rick Jordan’s Management Communication class was equally transformative. That course taught me how to speak with confidence in high-stakes settings — and I mean that literally. There were multiple moments this summer where I found myself speaking to rooms full of experienced professionals and C-level executives. The communication skills and presentation training I built in that class prepared me to hold my own and be taken seriously. The tools DBU gave me didn’t just look good on a resume — they worked in the real world.”

Congratulations, Brooklyn! We are cheering you on in your new sales role at Gartner!
