Dallas College Art Department—Brookhaven Campus is proud to announce the opening of “Unframed Unapologetic”, a site-specific group installation featuring the work of student artists under the curatorial direction of Professor Jen Gassiraro . “Unframed Unapologetic” represents a bold departure from traditional watercolor application.
This large-scale collage installation rejects the limits of the frame and the “preciousness” of the medium, instead allowing vibrant, hand-cut botanical forms to sprawl across the gallery’s architecture. The work explores the tension between delicate material and dominant physical presence. Jen Gassiraro guided the cohort through the collaborative assembly process, pushing the artists to consider how individual fragments can develop in to a singular rhythmic environment. Under her direction, the students transformed hundreds of individual watercolors into a sprawling takeover that directly interacts with the gallery space. The show will be on display until May 1st and is located in D128, our Secondary Space Gallery.
