The past few months at Eureka–North Shore have been full in the best way!

This week, we had the privilege of welcoming Brother John S. Nagy, who traveled to join us and delivered an outstanding and in-depth evening of Masonic education. The room and the conversations that followed spoke for themselves.

Education has remained at the forefront. From internal discussions and lectures within the Lodge to representation abroad, the work continues at home and beyond.

We also had the honor of hosting our final Official Visit from our District Deputy Grand Master for this Masonic year. Safe to say, not every DDGM can handle a lightsaber quite like ours.

Our District came together for a great day of fellowship at the picnic, spearheaded by West Broward Lodge. Strong turnout, great food, and even better company.

Momentum is building, and the work continues…

2026 Installation of Officers!

A big thank you to our District leadership, our visiting and traveling Brothers, our friends and families, and the Dania Historical Society for being there and sharing the evening with us. We were also honored to recognize a 50-Year Mason, and we’re grateful to our DeMolay for an epic guitar solo and to our Rainbow Girls for delivering the gavel speech.

Congratulations to our Worshipful Master and to the entire line as you step into the year ahead. We’re looking forward to another strong year for Eureka and the continued growth of our Lodge!

103 years ago, the cornerstone was laid for the Scottish Rite Temple near Lummus Park in downtown Miami. Attached is the Miami Herald front page from that day.

The Scottish Rite is an appendant body of Freemasonry focused on advanced Masonic degrees, education, and charitable work. It has played a major role in Masonic leadership and civic life across the United States for more than a century.

James A. Garfield's story is one worth knowing, not only because he was a Brother, but because he was an imperfect man who tried to bring integrity to a world that did not always reward it.

The Netflix series Death by Lightning, based on Candice Millard’s Destiny of the Republic, has sparked interest in Garfield and his principles. This also gives us a good moment to acknowledge his place within our Craft.

Garfield was raised as a Master Mason in 1864 and later advanced through the Royal Arch, Knight Templar, and Scottish Rite degrees. He believed in faith, duty, honesty, and personal responsibility, and he carried those values with him as a minister, a lawyer, a Civil War general, and a highly respected member of Congress.

The series shows how Garfield’s integrity put him at odds with the political machine of his time. Even within his own party, there were men working against him, actively trying to sabotage his success. Those tensions between principle and patronage help explain why his presidency was brief but very meaningful.

If you have not seen the show yet, consider checking it out. It offers a clear look at the challenges he faced and the character of a man who tried to lead with principle in a difficult and divided era.

It’s been a busy few weeks at Eureka-North Shore. Yesterday we had the pleasure of passing four of our Entered Apprentices to the Fellow Craft degree, and the work was carried out by our Past Masters, including two who served the East long before the Eureka–North Shore merger. One was Master in 1977 and another in 1985. It meant a lot for them to see their Lodge continue to grow with strong new Masons. We were also joined by three distinguished visitors, all candidates for Junior Grand Warden, and we appreciated them taking the time to travel in, spend the day with us, and let us get to know one another a little better.

Earlier in the week, we held one of our E-Cubed (E³) education nights during a Called Communication. W:. Harry and Brother Louis delivered an excellent session, and it was great to see such a solid group of Brothers travel from near and far, eager to expand their horizons.

We also made the trip to Jacksonville for the Cornerstone Ceremony of the new Grand Lodge building. It was a historic moment for Florida Freemasonry and well worth the travel. To round everything out, we had the Grand Master’s Official Visit to our District over the weekend, which brought a strong turnout from across the area.

It’s been a full and meaningful stretch for our Lodge, and we are proud of the work, the energy, and the Brotherhood that carried through every part of it!

Even with the government shutdown changing our original plans, this year’s trip turned out incredible. The unexpected freedom in our schedule gave us time to explore, laugh, and bond with one another. From late-night scooter rides around the monuments to impromptu dinners and an unforgettable hotel potluck that became a family-style evening of fellowship, we made the most of every moment.

We were once again honored to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is an experience that reminds us why we make this journey each year. We also visited the George Washington Masonic National Memorial and attended the Colonial Lodge’s Stated Meeting and Festive Board at the House of the Temple, continuing the friendship between our two lodges through our Traveling Gavel tradition.

Throughout the weekend, we were proud to represent Florida Freemasonry with dignity, pride, and respect, showing what it means to be part of our Craft.

What began as a simple trip has now become a cherished annual tradition that blends history, brotherhood, and family. Here’s to many more miles, memories, and moments together.

The summer may have come and gone, but Eureka has been alive with light and labor!

Over the past few months, we’ve initiated two exceptional gentlemen into our Craft, and passed one to the degree of Fellow Craft. And our current class of EAs? They’ve aced their proficiencies and will soon take their next step in Masonry.

Beyond the degrees, we’ve continued to push Masonic education with purpose. We explored the distinctions between “Facts, Beliefs, and Truths,” studied the timely history and resurgence of Anti-Masonry, and even carved out time for public speaking training to help our younger members grow their confidence and voice.

Now, with fall upon us, we’re gearing up for our Second Annual Washington, D.C. trip. Together, we’ll walk the halls of our nation’s capital, explore Masonic landmarks, and pay our solemn respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

It’s a great time to be a Eureka Mason!
