We did it! Thank you to all our staff who helped make our book drive a success! πŸ“š

Thanks to your generosity, we collected 560 children's books for local Head Start programs β€” giving their 234 students a book to call their very own this summer! β˜€οΈ

Every donation helps build a love of reading, and we're so grateful to each of you who donated.

We also want to give a big shout-out to our amazing partners who helped make this happen:
🀝 Tri-County Community Action Agency - Child Care Center
πŸ“ South Boston, VA | https://tricountyva.org

🀝 Head Start - Danville | Community Improvement Council, Inc.
πŸ“ Danville, VA | https://cicheadstart.org

πŸ“– Keep the reading going! Visit your local health department's Little Lending Libraries this summer for more great books.

Thank you for helping us support early literacy in our community β€” one book at a time. πŸ’›πŸ“š

National Safety Month, observed every June

The observance focuses on preventing leading causes of injury and death, including workplace accidents, traffic incidents, and home hazards. Despite improvements, thousands of workers still die annually from preventable injuries, and millions more experience non-fatal injuries requiring medical attention or time off work.

June is National Scleroderma Awareness Month

June to raise public awareness about scleroderma, a rare autoimmune disease with no known cure, and to promote research, advocacy, and support for those affected

Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and fibrosis (thickening) in the skin and other areas of the body. When an immune response tricks tissues into thinking they are injured, it causes inflammation, and the body makes too much collagen, leading to scleroderma, in more severe cases, internal organs

There are two major types of scleroderma:

Localized scleroderma only affects the skin and the structures directly under the skin.
Systemic scleroderma, also called systemic sclerosis, affects many systems in the body. This is the more serious type of scleroderma and can damage your blood vessels and internal organs, such as the heart, lungs, and kidneys. This subset is also divided into two additional categories called "limited" and "diffuse" which represents how much skin involvement there is in the body.
