May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we at Penn State Extension know that farmers are under extreme stress due to the various factors affecting agriculture. It is important to encourage those who are struggling to reach out for help. The Farm Stress Team has compiled a list of resources for farmers and farm families who may be struggling:

Included in that resource is the Agri Stress Helpline (call or text at 833-897-2474). Please reach out if you need to talk to someone who understands the unique challenges associated with farming.

A major thank you to the commissioners of Montour County for your ongoing support for our 4-H programming. We couldn’t do it without you!

As the commissioners’ representative for Penn State Extension and 4-H, I was pleased to motion to proclaim March 15-21, 2026 as 4-H week in Montour County. We have as many as 500 youth participating in various clubs and activities from public speaking to animal husbandry to shooting sports. Montour County’s 4-H educator, Robin Oberdorf, has grown the program exponentially and we’re very grateful for her commitment.
