Assistant Professor Martha Whitfield (Nursing) was appointed to the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Whitfield was chosen for her expertise in evidence-based research, qualitative methods, publishing, peer review, and grant writing, combined with research on substance use and HIV/AIDS.

Associate Professor Maryellen Brisbois (Nursing) received $50,000 from James M. and Libby M. Donahue to establish the Bridging the Atlantic Transportation Fund. The Fund supports transportation expenses for students participating in the Bridging the Atlantic Program for cultural and healthcare site visits during the annual exchange program.

Assistant Professor Martha Whitfield (Nursing) and Assistant Professor Kristopher Jackson (Nursing) were featured in an article about their research on Kratom, which was recently banned in Massachusetts, and how to improve addiction treatment for this newly classified narcotic.

Assistant Professor Kristopher Jackson (Nursing) was selected by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) to co-chair the national revision of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Scope and Standards of Practice. This national leadership role recognizes his expertise in acute care nursing and nursing education.

Associate Professor Ilknur Yesilcinar (Nursing) and Associate Professor Jennifer Viveiros (Nursing) have been selected to receive the $1,500 International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG) Education Award for their project, "Genomic Competencies for Undergraduate Nursing Students Using High-Fidelity Prenatal Visit Simulation." This project will develop and evaluate a high-fidelity, genomics-focused prenatal simulation scenario specifically designed for undergraduate nursing students. The project aims to create the first maternity simulation scenario to incorporate a genomics-focused approach, helping prepare future nurses to integrate genomic competencies into maternity care.
