And now let’s celebrate our newest school record holders on the men’s team!
Sophomore Ancil Alexander looked to throw far from the start this season by setting a new personal best at the Corsair Classic in the Discus with a winning mark of 180’1”/54.90m to break his own school record from last year. The Taunton native found great consistency in his discus throws series near that PR through the rest of the season, leading him to another Little East Conference Championship, New England DIII Championship, and his second First Team All-America honor at NCAAs.
Ancil’s experience going to NCAAs Indoors in the Shot Put left him hungry to qualify for outdoor nationals in a second event as well. At the MIT Final Qualifier, his series of season-best throws was capped off by a 59’.25”/17.99m shot put, breaking Jared Louf-Woods’ eight-year-old school record of 55’3”/16.84m! Ancil earned his second Second Team All-America shot put honor at NCAAs as well, qualifying for the event final to finish ninth overall.
And retooling from their school-record setting performance in the 4x100m Relay last season, junior Justin Andrade and sophomores Daniel Jordan and Zane Gordon added first-year Shemar Dillon to their quartet to rewrite their school record yet again. At the BSU Bears Invitational the foursome paced the field to a blistering lap of 41.93, becoming the first relay in school history to run sub-42 and earn them USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
